So you have an old photo....

RNZAA was asked whether the uniform of a soldier photographed in London in 1916-18 is New Zealand Artillery, and if so, where could they look to find anyone with the surname Beagle or Beagles who served with the NZRA?

Family data provided was as follows.
The soldier must have been important to their family as they have 3 copies, but they had no idea who he was. He had a bar on his sleeve indicating that he had been wounded. One of the men is their grandfather, and they know all about him; it has been suggested that the other gentleman might be one of his cousins.

Graham Birch replied:
I confirm that this is a New Zealand WWI artillery uniform. The WWI NZ Expeditionary Force artillery members were NZA as they had not been granted the royal prefix at that stage. All NZ WWI personal records are now held in our National Archives, and there are 53 entries under Beagle/Beagles. Go to www.archives.govt.nz and search under archway. Hopefully you will be able to find some information that could relate to your grandfather's NZ mate.
Your other link is www.armymuseum.co.nz/research/family-history. This site has unit nominal rolls of all New Zealanders who served overseas. Look for NZA units

And the result:
I found him!!! We have been puzzled about this photo for so many years, and then you pointed us in the right direction and I found him. He is Gunner William Thomas Beagle, our grandfather's cousin. Thank you so much for confirming the uniform and telling me where to look.
