It has happened. Vietnam Veterans Day has been accepted as an official ceremony on 18 August each year and while we have held small ceremonies here in Wellington for a few years, this has now been taken on board and is being organised through VCO & MCH. As a consequence we have Judith Collins laying a wreath on behalf of the Govt, Rick Barker laying one on behalf of the opposition and we are looking for an Intermediate aged grandchild of a Vietnam Vet to lay the wreath on our behalf. VCO will be sending invitations to all EVSA residents in the Wellington Region, many of you are not members but are veterans and are welcome to unite with us.
The ceremony is being held at the National War Memorial in Buckle Street, gathering at 11.30am with the service commencing at midday and should be completed within 20 minutes. Simon's contact details are as follows:
