Through Willie Walker, John Heslewood, D Coy, 6 RAR, has issued an invitation to the 45th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. He writes:
After talks with the CO, it appears the Streamer is to be presented to Harry [Smith] on Parade at Enoggera on 18 August. He will then attach it to the Battalion Colours. As far as the Citation is concerned I believe they will be posted to those entitled to wear it in the near future.
You might also like to start rounding the boys up who are coming over for the reunion in August. It will be on the night of the 17th at the Holiday Inn Roma St (same as the 40th) and will cost about $40 each. The Holiday Inn will also give us a discount on the room price but I will put the rest of the details in the Newsletter I am working on now. If you like I will send a proper invitation to 161 members via your Association if you can let me have details who to write to. I believe Mrs Stanley is keen to come over for the reunion.
