Passchendaele, our bloodiest day

12th October 1917 saw one of the most tragic days in New Zealand’s history, when 845 men were
killed in the space of a few hours at the Battle of Passchendaele in Flanders, Belgium.
An Inaugural Meeting is being held on Thursday 17th March 2011 at 4.00pm, in the Auditorium at
Auckland War Memorial Museum to form The Passchendaele Society, to reinforce the Accord signed
between the New Zealand and Flemish Governments in 2007 and to develop wider awareness and
recognition of those tragic events of 1917, particularly with the advent of the centenary in 2017. All
interested persons will be welcome at the meeting.
