The Association has been quite closely involved in developing tourist activities on the old coast battery sites at Forts North Head and Takapuna in Auckland. We have donated a small amount of money to assist with a market survey and Barry Dreyer is on the Trust. Frank Hopkinson was also a Trust member until he resigned late last year as his health waned. The Auckland Coastal Defences Historical Trust has the concession from Department of Conservation to develop tourist guiding and other activities on the two sites.
