Arrangements are coming together for the 45th Anniversary of the Battle and as we did in 2006 our Association would be honoured if members of the 161 Battery who supported us at Long Tan could be represented at the dinner on the 17th August. The dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Roma St Brisbane at a cost of $45 pr person. This includes dinner and a five hour drinks package. We have been able to subsidise the costs from Association funds owing to fund raising efforts over the past years and we consider $45 a head is reasonable. It would be appreciated if you could spread the word amongst your members and let me know approx how many may be interested in coming over. If possible an indication by the end of May would be helpful as we have to pay a further deposit on the function room by mid June. Booking payments will be required by mid July.
For those who wish to stay at the Hotel we have arranged a special room rate. The number to ring is 1300666747 and they should explain that they are attending the Long Tan Function in the Ballroom and a Corporate room rate has been approved. If there is any problem they should ask the booking clerk to contact our function co-ordinator Kelly Morley to confirm the discount.
On the 18th August 6 RAR will be holding a “Trooping of the Colours” Parade at Enoggera where the UCG Streamer will be presented by the Governor General to Harry Smith who will then attach it to the Battalion Colours. Your members will be welcome to attend also.
