Horowhenua Artillery Association Annual El Alamein Dining In
On 20 October 2010 the Horowhenua Artillery Association held their annual dining in to commemorate the Battle of El Alamein.The day was fine and the President Roger Newth led proceedings with a formal ceremony at the flag pole on the street front. 45 people sat down to lunch at the Levin RSA including World War 2, Korea and Vietnam veterans.Adam Gibson welcomed us on behalf of Levin RSA, and Roger introduced Kerry Lee, who spoke on the NZDF contribution to the 95th Commemoration of the landings at Gallipoli. He then spoke about the NZ Artillery contribution to the campaign and ended by proposing the Toast to the Regiment.Don Donaldson thanked him and Ray Gempton proposed the Toast to Absent Gunners.The after dining socialising was focused on the fine collection of military and artillery memorabilia which was on display.
